Mundulea Nature Reserve in the Otavi mountains is roughly 120 square kilometres of prime Montane bushland set in the unspoiled Karstveld south east of Otavi. It is perfectly positioned as the first or final destination of a Namibian holiday: not far from the main B1, about two hours' south of Etosha's Namutoni Gate. Walking and hiking in this lush mountain landscape offers the ideal opportunity to get out of your vehicle and into the bush. You will be accompanied by professional guide, Bruno Nebe of Turnstone Tours, who established Mundulea Nature Reserve 22 years ago. His aim then was to protect and support the huge diversity of fauna and flora that thrives in this pristine karstveld biosphere. It still is. At Mundulea, you'll stay in our enchantingly simple, beautifully crafted bush camp, recognised for its ecological integrity and small environmental footprint. From there you'll explore the Reserve's natural wilderness, walking in the real-time of the Namibian bush. Out on the trail you'll be able to discuss what you find with a guide who can help interpret your discoveries in an insightful and meaningful way. Back at the camp, the conversations continue over sundowners and delicious home-cooking, or with Bruno's illumiating collection of books, artefacts, bones and stones. We ask guests to arrive at Mundulea farmhouse shortly after lunche on the first day of their visit. You will be met there and transferred to the camp to begin your four-day enconunter with the best that the bush has to offer. You'll need light clothing, a fleece jacket, good walking shoes, a hat, decent sunglasses, sun block, binoculars and a water bottle. We provide everything else for what we hope will be an unforgettable and enriching experience. We look forward to seeing you there. |
